What Does Houston Have In Store For The Nation?

It’s finally time. The Super Bowl. The fifty-first time that that the nation (and world) has come together to watch the two most dominant teams play in the biggest game on the planet.

That’s a lot of weight for the host city. But we haven’t hesitated, not once. We’ve seen this city stand up in excitement, collaborate on a scale never seen before and work to transform Houston in preparation for more than 138,000 visitors.

The Houston Super Bowl Host Committee has acted as a liaison between the NFL, City of Houston, Harris County and the local community since it was announced that Houston would host the big game. Knowing that they’d need a partner to showcase Houston as a forward-thinking city at the top of their game, they called us at VISION to help ensure that Houston’s innovative and welcoming spirit lived ON before and after kickoff.

With the Host Committee, VISION created a Volunteer Recruitment Center to build an army of 10,000 ambassadors to help welcome the world during as Superstar Volunteers. These are Houstonians coming together to welcome the nation—local natives who love this city and want to show it off. VISION helped make that happen. As champions of Houston, it was an honor to help create an experience for volunteers willing to represent our city well.

Not to mention VISION’s key role in creating content for Houston’s front door—the Greater Houston Partnership’s Partnership Tower. The GHP serves as a welcoming committee for Houston, and with a 19-panel video/interactive display, we jumped at the chance to create a memorable experience for those visiting our city. As events are happening everyday leading up to the game, they’ll serve as a valuable behind-the-scenes glance into the city’s activity.

And there’s so much more. Expected to draw over a million people, Super Bowl Live will run for 10 days, exhibiting the ever-intriguing Future Flight, NASA’s display for the public to investigate virtual reality (on Mars) for themselves. Lifting riders in the air as they experience a virtual-reality lift-off, riders land on Mars—seeing actual footage from the Red Planet—before plunging from the top of the tower back to Earth. It’s our favorite attraction, for sure. In addition, Houston Live shares the story of Houston for any visitors that might be interested. There’s a lot to learn from this storied city.

We can’t wait for the world to see Houston. For our visitors to stay at the Houston’s new Marriott Marquis and wind down a Texas-shaped lazy river, stop by a party or catch a bite to eat at our best restaurants downtown.

For them to see this city how we see this city—a place for all. A city that welcomes you, no matter where you come from. This is a city that’s built on diverse culture and varied ideas, whose innovation in tech and science is solidified as a result of the people who’ve made their home here.

Our people are our greatest strength. We know that. Now the world will see as well.
