A Global VISION from Pope Francis
A message from Pope Francis: “By participating in sports, we are able to go beyond our own self-interest—and in a healthy way—we learn to sacrifice, to grow in fidelity and respect the rules.”
At VISION we are extraordinarily proud to support this message of peace, friendship and solidarity for humanity: recorded in Rome, edited and produced at VISION headquarters in Houston, and distributed to the world through the National Football League in partnership with the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee.
It’s easy for all of us to get caught up in the Super Bowl and all that it offers our city and ourselves. We’ve had ten days of concerts, food and entertainment, with the eyes of the world intently on us as we prepared to host one of the most viewed sporting events in the world.
But through our work with the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee as a true production partner, we have become acutely aware of the gravity and impact that this sporting event can have on humanity. And called on to help produce such an important video with a message for humanity, we were humbled and honored to help make a difference in the world.
Every year, football works wonders in bridging divides and bringing people together. The cities that host the Super Bowl see citizens from across the world joining together and uniting for the love of the game, and that’s a beautiful thing.
As Pope Francis said, this event has the potential to build a culture of encounter and a world of peace. Our participation in football, in sports, allows us to venture beyond our own self-interest and advocate for a greater mission and purpose.
At VISION, we are energized by the Pope’s message and immensely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of his vision for the world. We wake up every day seeking to do work with intention—work that has purpose. We will move on from this experience with a profound sense of responsibility to carry out his challenge to build a culture of encounter and a world of peace.
