Founded in 1994, KIPP Texas Public Schools is an open-enrollment, public, tuition-free, charter school network serving nearly 30,000 pre-k through 12th-grade students at 60 schools. Together with families and communities, KIPP Texas creates joyful, academically excellent public schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose — college, career, and beyond — so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world. To support its mission, KIPP Texas holds an annual fundraising event sharing the inspiring work and accomplishments of its students, aka “KIPPsters.” Forced by the pandemic to take its annual in-person luncheon online, KIPP Texas called on VISION to create an engaging fundraising event fit for a virtual audience.
Every year, the annual event takes the opportunity to honor and celebrate the incredible supporters, advocates, and friends of its KIPPsters. For the 2020 Houston Rise Together virtual event, KIPP Texas honored David W. Leebron and Y. Ping Sun for helping KIPPsters build a more just world by trailblazing the fight for equitable education in our city.

Virtual Waiting Room Content Creation:
To grab the attention of KIPP’s virtual audience prior to the official event start time, VISION created a pre-show waiting room to introduce the audience to KIPP’s mission, recognize sponsors, and feature KIPP alumni testimonials all while sprinkling in “KIPPisms” that KIPP uses to drive their behaviors and actions in service of their mission.

Virtual Event Production:
With so much uncertainty around COVID-19 and in keeping the safety of the KIPPsters and stakeholders at the forefront, KIPP Texas Public Schools engaged VISION to pivot its in-person Houston luncheon to a virtual event. The virtual event featured many moments highlighting the talent of KIPP students such as the virtual choir and poetry slam.

Animation & Motion Graphic:
VISION created fun and creative animations and motion graphics that incorporated KIPP’s value icons with academic graphic elements that highlight KIPP’s emphasis on college preparation.
KIPP Texas Public Schools does so much to help all children, regardless of zip code or income level, get the education they need even in the face of a global pandemic. VISION is honored to bring the annual KIPP Luncheon to life in a virtual format to ensure quality education lives ON for the next generation of thinkers.
